Hector Cumming is head of PIPERS Trademark department and is based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Hector Cumming was born and educated in New Zealand, has a Masters Degree in chemistry (x-ray crystallography) and has published a paper on clathrate structures. He has been active in the patent field since 1978 in Australia, working first with Davies & Collison and later as a partner with Arthur S Cave & Co., in Sydney before the two firms joined as Davies Collison Cave in 1991. In 1994 he returned to live and work in New Zealand.

Hector was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1978, of Victoria in 1978, and as a Solicitor in Queensland in 1981 and in New South Wales in 1985

Hector is a member of NZIPA, APAA and AIPPI. Hector is an active member of INTA and a regular attendee at their conferences.
