Pritesh joined Pipers in 2012 and prior to that he was a Patent Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ). He is a registered Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in Australia and New Zealand and practices in both jurisdictions. Pritesh has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Mechatronics as well as a Master of Engineering. His post graduate research was based on a design of an integrated circuit chip for use in a washing machine in order to provide intelligent control.
Pritesh is very passionate about IP and advises as well as assists clients with strategy, protection and enforcement of patents, designs and trade mark rights in New Zealand and overseas. His main areas of expertise in patents include drafting and prosecution work in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, business methods, IT, software, fintech and AI technologies. Pritesh is experienced in carrying out all types of IP searches/analysis including novelty, validity, and freedom to operate (FTO), and providing opinion and advice to the clients accordingly. Pritesh also assists with opposition, revocation and hearing.
Pritesh is an avid traveller and besides exploring the world he also enjoys the company of good friends and swimming.
Pritesh is a fellow member of New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys, Inc. (NZIPA), and is also a member of other professional bodies including Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), Patent Information User Group, Inc. (PIUG), and Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA).
